platinum wedding bands
these platinum bands pretty much sum it all up for me, the perfect marriage between old school forging techniques of the blacksmith with the refined skills of the jeweller.
often my grooms are not used to wearing any ring at all, so the goal here is to make him a comfortable band, not too fancy, yet solid and substantial. strong. this band is 10mm wide.
her diamond band always varies a bit, for instance, what kind of diamonds are we using? is there an engagement ring we need to consider when designing?
this simple forged platinum band always seems to work, simple and solid and easy to wear no matter what your lifestyle.
platinum diamond wedding band set
This hand forged set of wedding rings is truly forging from my heart. This lovely gentleman From Alaska found me through social media and has been an utter joy to work with every step of the way. I experienced serious postpartum when these two rings left my bench! Forged from one ingot of platinum, I take a sliver from his band to weld her band together and a sliver of her band to complete his. He sent me a parcel of diamonds and we decided upon these 5. This is such a a classic forging for me, I don’t think this ring will ever go out of style.
When I finished welding his ring, I sent my client friend a message and let him know, nothing on my bench has required so much heat from my torch in quite a while, and I thanked him. forging pure platinum is truly so therapeutic and joyful to me and this 9mm wide, size 13 platinum ring and it’s diamond counterpart was my therapist when da’ Rona first hit. His response To me was a classic ~ “years from now, I hope someone discovers my remains and this ring and knows ~ this was a man of worth and value, who cared”.
I wish this couple all the joy in the world. And forging wedding rings for them has been a gift beyond measure.
gold and platinum spinner ring
I have done a number of versions of this ring over the years. traditionally called a “spinner” ring as the top band spins freely atop the wide concave band. I call it my stress relieving ring as the spinning is soothing and I don’t often realize I am doing it!
quite a statement piece with the added diamonds, the platinum shines so much atop the yellow gold.
hammered white gold diamond bar rings
18k palladium white gold forges like butter, so much better than regular white gold which is notoriously brittle. palladium is a member of the platinum family, one of the nine “noble” metals that resists oxidation. it has a lovely rich depth of color and lends itself beautifully to wedding bands as it wears so nicely over time.
these designs are a mainstay for me, again, simple, forever pieces that you will find yourself wearing over and over and over again
platinum diamond rings
while almost everything I make is hand forged, the hammer marks do not need to remain. these two platinum rings were forged by hand and hand finished to a smooth polished finished. the sapphire diamond ring is the perfect pinky ring with it’s unusual shape. the diamond infinity band is a classic wedding band and one of my most requested designs. again, simplicity rules. oh and the number of diamonds in the infinity band symbolize their vows. always love it when their is meaning behind the design.
platinum tourmaline ring
When a client comes to me with a spectacular stone, my goal is to design a ring that enhances the natural beauty of the gem. this stunning green tourmaline called for 18k yellow gold, but also wanted extra light to brighten the depth of green color. so once I fabricated the bezel, I began organically “melting” out parts of the gold, to allow light to flow through the setting.
the forged platinum bar ring is a foundation piece for me, I love the way the concave shape of the ring nestles the stone down just enough so that it doesn’t stand up too high off the ring.
amethyst engagement ring
Such an interesting commission. He came to me, looking for someone to make this ring. his fiance told him it would be a good gift for his soon to be mother in law. alas the site where they found the ring was no longer so I agreed to make the ring and ship to Moldova. I searched and finally settled upon this stunning 8 x 10 mm emerald cut amethyst. Immediately I wanted 18 karat yellow for the settings, to really accentuate the deep color the stunning stones. Amethyst is really spectacular sometimes. I chose 18 karat Palladium white because it is so lovely and malleable and lent itself very well to the braiding of the gold wires on the two bands. The two bands by the way join at the bottom of the ring, providing a really solid base. I also really like the placement of the two rounds amethysts, I don’t know why, but the lack of symmetry next to this stunningly perfect big deep purple amethyst, I was so pleased and I believe it was a hit in Moldova.

platinum sapphire diamond ring
this sapphire is spectacular, it appraises so high because the color is so insanely vibrant. we chose the interesting color combo of the blue and white diamonds simply because we wanted the ring to be as unique as the stone, the two blues in the yellow gold are just stunning in person.
this ring was inspired by the amethyst ring ~ also here in my portfolio
diamond platinum 18k yellow gold engagement wedding ring set
how much do I love the feel of these thick hand forged rings?! a raw “one ring to rule them all” kind of feel
forged sterling cuff bracelet
This Bracelet now lives on my wrist, however I created it when I was was forging a vignette of sterling silver bracelets and bangles for holiday trunk shows one year. the bottom of the cuff is forged into another wave, it fits me perfectly and seemed to find a home on my wrist. I forge so many bracelets for holiday gifts and share this bangle here here as an example of the unique shapes that can be forged to create a forever piece for you
hand forged platinum engagement ring
every once in awhile I am asked to recreate a piece from one of the larger fashion houses, this time it was Gucci
she had seen a ring very similar to this in a duty free shop and rather than send me a photo, she sent me a sketch. I had absolute freedom from there and so I selected truly colorless (D color) diamonds to bring as much shine and sparkle to this platinum duo. honestly, I don’t think I could love this engagement/wedding ring set anymore, it is stunning
hand forged diamond engagement wedding ring
She came to me saying I’ve left this to the very last minute, but I need a rather stunning engagement/wedding ring for my soon to be wife.
Fortunately she knew what she wanted, so it made it really easy to find this three-quarter carat lab created diamond. I did insist that she do some inquiring as to the width of this band, It’s really true, our fingers are all very different sizes, and a 9 mm band is certainly different then a 10 mm band. Comfort is everything at the end of the day remember. So we discovered that a 9 mm wide band forged in white gold was going to be a perfect fit. And a lovely beveled white gold bezel to showcase this gorgeous, ethically produced diamond, still unique, with or without grading reports, each stone unique, yet lab created. So no blood diamond potential. And we did all of this as a total surprise for her betrothed~ thankfully I heard that it fits, it’s gorgeous, and she loves it! And the quarantine wedding was a fabulous success.
It’s jobs like these that make me realize that I do provide an essential service. Thank you for commissioning me to forge such forever pieces for you
forged sterling bracelet
my client came to me with a favorite old bracelet and asked me to forge a new one for him in sterling.
on one side, the volute is forged closed, but the other opens so that he can easily put it on. was a bit of challenge forging the open volute so that it would be soft and not catch on anything, yet open enough to clasp.
I do love forging bracelets that I know will get a lifetime of wear
22k wide gold diamond band
22k yellow gold, what an amazing alloy to forge, honestly, like butter
this is another ring that was forged from melting down old rings, firing and forging out the bad juju, and creating this all new heirloom ring.
carving out the lines in this band was so. much. fun! because, again, like butter I tell you.
I do love wide bands so much, while they are not for everyone, if the style suits you, what a stunner!
18k yellow gold record spindle
this 18k yellow gold “record spindle” was so much fun to make! while I was forging this for my client, i found myself singing “Macarthur park is melting in the dark” by Donna Summer. my first little lp that required such a spindle :)
custom palladium white gold wedding ring
hammered palladium white gold custom wedding ring utilizing the clustered bezel theme my long time fans will recognize. this particular wedding ring features natural champagne colored diamonds set in yellow gold bezels mounted on a hand forged palladium white gold ring shank that shows off the hammered texture.
